Clean up as you start up your Mac

If you have a lot of folders open on the desktop, you might spend a minute or two closing them and putting them away before you shut down. You don't have to. Instead, the next time you start up, hold down the [option] key as your extensions finish loading (as denoted by the icons that march across the screen at startup). Doing so closes all the windows left open from your last session.
