Creating and Modifying Crop Marks Adobe Illustrator 8 will automatically print crop marks at the corners of the bounding box surrounding your artwork when you output separations. Unless this is what you intended, you will probably want to set your own crop marks. You must set your crop marks manually if your artwork contains bleeds. To create crop marks, first draw a rectangle with the requisite dimensions. Make sure it's positioned correctly on your document. With this rectangle selected, choose the Object, Crop Marks, Make menu command. Illustrator will then create crop marks at the outside corners of the rectangle with the attributes of no fill and a registration stroke color. This registration color will print on all separations. Note that you can have only one set of crop marks per document. Also note that you can't hide crop marks; they will show up on top of any artwork on all layers. If you need to make changes to your crop marks, first select the Object, Crop Marks, Release menu command; then make your changes to the rectangle and change the rectangle back into crop marks.
