Adding Colours to the Swatches Palette After you have created a custom color, you may find it useful to save the color as a new swatch. Referring to the swatches palette is far more efficient than dropping whatever tool you are using to retrieve the eyedropper tool from the toolbox and grab a sample from elsewhere in the document. To save a fill or stroke color as a swatch, drag the Fill or Stroke box from the Color palette or the toolbox to an empty area of the swatches palette, or you can release the mouse button between two colors to insert the new color between them.
