Outlining a line with a stroke in Illustrator At some point in your Illustrator adventures, you may want to draw a line that appears as though it's stroked in a different color than the line itself. Unfortunately, you can't do this by drawing a line with different fill and stroke colors. Instead, you must select a line that you draw and choose Object > Path > Outline Path. This command surrounds your line with a path and swaps the fill and stroke colors of your original line. Now you can add a stroke color to your line, just as long as you change your stroke weight in the Stroke palette to a smaller point size.
