Change the Bootup Delay of Windows

Often this tip is welcome news to Windows experts who end up booting their computers many times a day. By following these steps:

1.  Click on Start, choose Run, and type Notepad. Then press Enter.

2. Choose File + Open and open the MSDOS.SYS file.

3. Find the BootDelay= line and change it to BootDelay=0.

4. Choose File + Save and then Exit.

These experts change the 2-second delay after the Starting Windows message to a 0-second delay. Two seconds, you say, who cares? Experts in a cranky hurry, that's who, looking for every possible way to speed things up. For less-expert operators, though, it can make sense to change that BootDelay= line to something like BootDelay=5. That 5 seconds is the time you have to press the F8 key to interrupt regular Windows and go into troubleshooting.
