Viewing Directories at the Command Prompt At the command prompt it is possible to view only directories using the DIR command. You can modify the DIR command to display directories only. Type dir /ad and press Enter. If the listing is too long, you can add the pause switch as well. Type dir /ad /p and press Enter to view the directories one page at a time. If you need to see all the subdirectories in the current directory, type dir /s/ad /p and press Enter. This is a useful tip if you have a lot of files in the root of your drive.
